Dr. Casey Sharpe, MD

Staff Physician

Dr. Casey Sharpe grew up along the Gulf Coast of Texas and attended the University of Texas for both college and medical school.

While splitting his medical school years between Galveston and Austin, Casey also spent several months traveling the vast Big Bend region of West Texas by pickup truck, accompanying family physicians who cared for remote communities along the border. From these country doctors, he learned to deliver babies, treat snake bites and traumatic injuries, and care for patients of all ages. More importantly, he saw firsthand the value of service, community, and the lasting relationships at the heart of family medicine. The experience helped shape his decision to become a family physician himself.

Dr. Sharpe came to North Carolina in 2015 to complete his family medicine residency at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville. A year later, he married Caitlin Hettich, an artist and social worker, and the two made their home in Black Mountain. Today, Casey and Caitlin have two children and are grateful to be surrounded by a wonderful community of friends and family.

Outside of medicine, Casey is a lifelong musician and the lead singer-songwriter of the folk-rock and alt-country band Moon Draper.
